Welcome

Hello and welcome to my blog! I hope this blog helps to inform you a little bit more about myself. The purpose of this blog is for you to learn about who I am, my career goals, and about my past work and volunteer experiences.
I am currently a junior at The College of New Jersey in Ewing, NJ. I am planning on attending graduate school for Speech Pathology once I graduate in May, 2010. I am very excited to become part of this profession as I have always been very interested in education and the health field.
Currently I am working part-time as a hostess at The Witherspoon Grill in Princeton, NJ while attending college as a full-time student. Also, I have been volunteering the last two years on campus with a group called Career and Community Services. This group is a program which gives mentally disabled students a chance to attend college. I assist the students with their school work and in the classroom. I really am enjoying working with these students and I believe it is a great learning experience for the field I plan on getting involved with.

Please enjoy exploring my blog and learning more about me!

Work Experiences

I have had various jobs throughout the years where I have worked with all types of people. I have learned a lot of great skills from my past work experiences such as patience, responsibility, and time-management skills. Please take a look at my resumé for more information on my previous employment.

Camp Y, Scotch Plains, NJ - Over the past six summers I have worked at this day camp. I have supervised children ages 4-10 and have also been responsible for campers on daily trips throughout the tri-state area. I have worked with and assisted campers who have had various special needs. The pictures below show me with some of my campers and fellow counselors.

YMCA - After School Program, Hopewell, NJ- From August 2007-June 2008, I assisted children ages 4-11 year old with their schoolwork as well as helped to plan activities for the students after school. I worked four days a week with the students and really enjoyed getting to work with so many different types of children.

Speech Pathology

I have been asked the question many times"Why do you want to be a speech pathologist?" Since before I started college I always knew I wanted to become part of a profession where I would be able to help individuals. A person's ability to speak and communicate is one of the most important skills to have. I am very lucky that I have never had any problems or disorders with my speech and would like to take my good fortune to help individuals who need it.

I believe becoming a speech pathologist will be a very rewarding and exciting career as I will be able to work with so many types of people. I am a very hardworking and dedicated person and hope to make a difference in other people's lives!
